The National Working Group workshops on optimising import and export logistics processes were held on 11 and 12 March in Marseille and on 17 and 18 March in Le Havre.
Representatives of port freight forwarders, shipping agents, exporters, port authorities and carriers took part in these workshops, and customs took part in an observatory capacity.
The workshops were organised following the creation of a National Working Group by SOGYP, an MGI and SOGET subsidiary, in partnership with the AUTF (French Freight Transport Users Association), the DGDDI (French Directorate-General of Customs and Indirect Taxes) and the Le Havre and Marseille Port Authorities. The launch meeting took place in Paris last February.
The Marseille and Le Havre workshops focussed on export processes for Full Container Loads and consolidated transport.
Discussions between participants from the Marseille and Le Havre port communities identified sticking points which prevent smooth goods flows and offered suggestions for improvement. New functions will be developed and integrated into AP+ and also into the upcoming French national Port Community System.
These workshops were led by Dominique Lebreton and Fabrine Frestel for MGI, and Alain Savina for SOGET.
The next step is the final report, which will be presented for approval in May 2015 at an event in Paris for various trade associations.
