Did you know that 30% of companies see an increase in cyberattacks during weekends and holidays?
The most frequent scams?
Bogus vendor fraud (54%), cybercrime (50%, including 20% ransomware), other identity theft (43%), fake news regarding president nomination(42%), and fake news regarding customer service ( 35%).
Why is summer a good time for attacks?
The weak link are employees. During the summer time, most companies operate with reduced staff and occasional temporary employees that come onboard to reenforce teams during the summer months. Under these conditions, the weaknesses are more important simply because people are less cautious of the precautions they need to take in order to prevent a cyberattack .
It is therefore essential to anticipate these attacks by informing your staff at all levels, and to train your temporary reinforcements, even if this seems expensive. The consequences of an attack would be terribly more costly.
So, dear customers, you absolutely need to make your summer staff and all your temporary workers aware of good cyber practices.
And to those who are not able to disconnect while on vacation, a very useful reminder: never use public Wi-Fi and follow the same precautions as you would in the office.
Enjoy the summer !
