MGI a participé au Digital Ship Maritime Med Forum

Jaap van den Hoogen, chairman of MGI’s executive board and Dominique Lebreton, director of auditing, projects and sales was taking part in the Mediterranean Maritime Forum/CIO organised by Digital Ship on the 4th of April at the Radisson Blue Hotel in Marseille.

« The digital revolution brings opportunities for growth in the shipping ecosystem through satellite communications, big data, IoT, data analytics and blockchain use in the industry to name a few of the  topics that will be discuss today » stated Jaap van den Hoogen in his opening speech at the forum.

Dominique focused on the new generation of PCS with Ci5, during the “iShipping revolution” session. From data acquisition to analysis and aggregation, port logistics is now evolving from a cargo-centred to a data-oriented industry. It is with this new vision that MGI has introduced the Port/Cargo Intelligent System concept, in line with the Smart Port approach initiated by the Marseille Fos Port community.

Maurice Meehan, from BSR, presented a vision for the shipping industry in 5 to 10 years’ time, based on the following trends:

Data traceability,
Digitalisation,
Collaboration,
Convergence,
Demographic economics and the circular economy

The innovative principles that underpin Ci5 are a perfect example of the trends listed above.

Data traceability: Ci5 offers door-to-door goods traceability,
Digitalisation: information is collected from all sources (organisations, smart objects, smart containers), and the system applies paperless administrative and customs logisticsprocedures,
Collaboration: by definition, a CCS is a collaborative tool that serves as a single window for all (public and private) stakeholders involved in goods management,
Convergence: single window for all goods-related events where stakeholders come together around the shared goal of an efficient supply chain,
Demographic economics and the circular economy: the Ci5 predictive analysis tool improves the allocation of logistics resources.
