How to fill your virtual Christmas stocking safely

With the holiday season upon us, cybersecurity threats are higher than ever.

Friday 26 November was the official launch of Black Friday and a frenzy of online shopping. Sales are estimated to hit between $1,280 and $1,300 billion in a single month.

It’s really important not to give in to the holiday rush!

Before you place an order on a website, make sure you:

  • Check that the “https” padlock icon appears in the address bar. This symbol guarantees that all private information is encrypted, including credit card numbers.
  • Read the terms and conditions of sale to check who the payment provider is and ensure that they are reliable.

Finally, if you are a regular online shopper, we advise that you activate dual authentication on websites that offer it,
