Another step forward for MGI in overseas France.

For France’s overseas departments and territories, 2021 will have been the year of Ci5 and Smart Ports. After the Indian Ocean (Mayotte), the Caribbean (Martinique) and the Pacific (Papeete and Nouméa), French Guiana is now modernising and equipping itself with this new technology.
In February 2010, Maritime and Port Federation of French Guiana (UMEP) and MGI signed an initial agreement to bring AP+ to the port community. Today, 11 years later, Ci5 is taking over.

The first vessel managed by the new Ci5 port logistics system was the container ship, CMA-CGM SAINT-LAURENT, which entered the port of Dégrad des Cannes on 2 December 2021. Today, over 200 Guyanese users are benefitting from the most comprehensive Port Community System.
After a preliminary definition phase in the first half of 2021 taking into account the specificities of French Guiana (in particular land imports/exports, Brazil and Surinam), MGI began training and assisting users in November by appointing 4 employees on site, alongside AP+ operator GIP+.

“MGI teams are proud of the long-standing and renewed trust of our long-standing partner, GIP+,” says Rémi Julien, President of the MGI Executive Board. “With this latest rollout, all our French clients are taking full advantage of the advances of Ci5, which will accompany them for years to come.”

“GIP+ is very pleased to be working with Ci5 to continue the adventure that began 11 years ago with AP+,” says Philippe Marre, President of GIP+. “The partnership with MGI’s teams has been cemented for the next five years and the port community of French Guiana will be able to enjoy a modern high-performance system.”
