In early 2015 I became CEO of the MGI Executive Board. I had just left my role as director of the CMA CGM Agency in Marseille, hoping to enjoy a well-earned retirement, but the MGI project was so exciting that I couldn’t turn down the challenge. 5 years later, I am leaving the company, with great pride at what MGI has become today.
John Rockefeller said that “I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance”. Without perseverance, MGI could not have made such quick progress and could never have created Ci5, the best Cargo Intelligent System in the world! We transitioned from Protis to AP+ and now to Ci5 – bursting with new technologies – in so little time. Ci5 offers a range of new services and a brand new mobile application. In a few clicks, users can access their To Do List, with all their urgent tasks, and Ci5 Tracking, which shows the progress of import and export cargo throughout port transit. We have an incredible capacity for innovation like no other company, and I am sure that MGI will take the world by storm thanks to the innovations we are continuing to develop. Just read the article by Jean-Louis Paoli, Production Manager, to see how extraordinary this past year has been.
In this latest issue, Christophe Reynaud, Innovations Manager, will focus on what’s new with Ci5 since it was rolled out at the Port of Marseille-Fos one year ago today! We have changed the logistics of data exchange for port professionals. Thanks to MGI, we have revolutionised information flows and people are no longer saying “Cargo Community System” but instead “Cargo Intelligent System”!
Not only has MGI persevered to always go one step further, our company remains at the cutting edge of innovation. In the “Innovation” article, you will be able to read more about MGI Lab, which was officially launched this summer to keep our minds focused on innovation.
“MGI listens, innovates and works alongside its customers to build the future together”, says Dominique Lebreton, Chief Business Development Officer. One year after the roll-out of Ci5 in Marseille, many port communities have joined the Ci5 family! MGI’s deployment road map has filled up fast, as you will be able to read for yourselves.
In the words of Confucius, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I have been delighted to play my part in the success of MGI, where every day was a new challenge to meet the needs of port communities for smoother flows, traceability, security and data optimisation. We worked together as the MGI team to create Ci5, the best Cargo Intelligent System in the world and I am extremely proud of what we have achieved and what MGI staff have accomplished. I carry this pride with me as I leave my role at the company and am also confident for the future. My successor Rémi Julien will be taking the helm at MGI. He has my full confidence and his experience and new perspective will be a great asset to MGI. I am certain that he will continue to expand the company’s development, internationally and beyond!
